One of the best meals of my life.
"5 STAR RESTAURANT" by Kathy Haigler November 29, 2009 - I have not had food like this since the five star restaurants we discovered on Maui!!! We ate the less expensive things on the menu which were the Logan's cool hand chicken, Balsamic Glazed Bacon Wrapped Pork Filet, and meatloaf. We were dazzled by these meals, we cannot imagine what they can do with steak!! The service was outstanding, reminiscent of the private restaurants downtown St Louis. I just cannot say enough about this place! The setting, the food, the staff and the price were outstanding! URBANSPOON
"Buffalo Grill critique" by joe hall November 26, 2009 - Likes it - I have eaten at this fine restaurant three times since discovering in in early fall. It is urbane, affordable and such a great break from chicken fried steak and two sides. The staff is polite, efficient and attentive. The portions on some items are plentiful, while somewhat skimpy on the spaghetti-the most inexpensive thing on the menu. try the salmon and the best artichoke spinach dip on the planet. URBANSPOON "A Great Surprise for Our Little Town!" by R. Gregg November 14, 2009 - Likes it - Located in the Historic Downtown this is a great treat for such a small town. The building is a lovingly restored Ford Dealership, from when they were in real buildings. The space is open and airy with huge windows. In the evening they use lighting and spacing to create intimacy. The service is even and very competent. We never feel rushed and they a willing to meet requests when possible. The food is well prepared on site with local ingredients when available. The range is broad from pasta to high quality meat. They have a full bar. It makes a pleasant stop for a drink and an appetizer. There is a very nice space available upstairs for large group events. Favorite Dish: I have had the Penne Arrabiata and the Spaghetti Puttanesca. They were both satisfying and well prepared. The portions were huge. I enjoyed the garlic potatoes. The salads and appetizers are also imaginative. They change many items seasonally. URBANSPOON
"Upscale Comfort Food and Great Steaks" by KC Bison. The Buffalo Grill is a welcome addition to the restaurant scene in Southeast Kansas. The comforting yet sophisticated atmosphere and American bistro menu are just what the region needed. Whether you are a foodie, a meat and potatoes lover, or just want a great meal, look no further than The Buffalo Grill. You'll find great food that is surprisingly affordable. Also check out the drink specials, the bartender makes a mean Mojito. Loved it...I'll be going back often. URBANSPOON
"Fabulous!" By Food Lover. I can't believe you can find a restaurant this good in Fort Scott, KS! I had the lamb and tasted both steak and snapper at dinner. They were all outstanding. Their prices are reasonable and the atmosphere makes you feel like you are in a big city. Can't wait to eat there again. I give 4 stars! URBANSPOON

"The bar on fine dining in the Four States has just been raised, if the Buffalo Grill's soft opening is a preview of what's to come from chefs Vincent Waide and Logan McGear. Even those who don't like calamari should try the calamari here. The seasoned breading and the complex flavors of the sauce just might make you change your mind. Among the entrées, the split chicken breast and the line-caught salmon both stand out. Marinated in basil pesto, the boneless, skinless chicken breast is topped with roasted garlic and both red bell and pepperoncini peppers, The North Atlantic salmon is served with tomatoes, capers, onions and olives.
The pasta dishes are perfect. Going beyond the standard marinara and alfredo sauce usually found in these parts, the Buffalo Grill chefs offer several excellent choices, the most notable being the penne with arrabiata sauce, made just as it should be, with just enough crushed red pepper to add a little heat, and the spaghetti with puttanesca sauce, which -- with its capers, garlic, anchovies and kalamata olives -- offers a true taste of the Mediterranean rarely seen on Midwestern menus.
However, the star of the menu is Dean's Bison Melt. Half a pound of ground bison meat is enrobed in cheese and a special sauce and nestled between two pieces of artisan bread (the same bread that graces the tabletops). It so much more than just another burger. When it's time for dessert, you won't be hungry, but make an effort anyway. The chocolate cheesecake is decadent, and the key lime cheesecake is the perfect balance of sweet and tart. Both are as light as mousse.
All of this is served on tables set with elegant black and white linens in a perfectly restored building located in the Fort Scott historic district, a block from the 1842 frontier fort that is now a National Park. Without a doubt, owners Dean & Becky Mann have a hit on their hands."
